Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): The two-day National Vector Borne District Control Programme (NVBDCP) and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) State review meeting is underway at Hotel Lake Shilloi, Dimapur from September 26.
Around 60 participants are attending in the ongoing meeting which includes Senior Regional Director MoHFW Dr. LA Singh, NVBDCP and IDSP officials and staff from the state and districts and district representatives from CARITAS India.
Delivering the welcome address, Deputy Director (NVBDCP) Dr. Neisakho Kere expressed hope that the deliberations undertaken in the two day meeting will be helpful in propelling the state towards malaria elimination by 2030.
A presentation on Overview of Malaria Elimination Plan was presented by Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, State Programme Officer, NVBDCP. He deliberated on the milestones and targets set for malaria elimination in the state by 2030. The districts were directed to identify blocks and areas with high transmission of malaria and plan strategies accordingly. He also stressed on the importance of epidemic preparedness and rapid response by the districts for early withdrawal of malaria cases. Senior Regional Director, Dr. LA Singh in his address said that by 2022 all the districts have to achieve less than 1 Annual Parasitic Incidence (API) i.e. less than one malaria positive case per 1000 population.
The address was followed by district presentations on programme implementation in their respective districts with inputs and suggestions from the participants. The second day of the meeting will also see a similar agenda where programme implementation in the districts will be discussed and reviewed along with a presentation on Surveillance on Vector Borne Diseases by the State Nodal Officer, IDSP.
