The Officers’ Hill Youth Organization (OHYO) Kohima today officially launched uniform for its Vigilance Team.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Officers’ Hill (Teghabaka) Colony Council chairman Khrielakuo Sekhose said that youths have always been an integral part of Naga society in providing security to the community in olden times and expressed hope that the youth will continue to provide safety and security to the colony.
While the installation of a community policing team has been recommended by the South Police Station under the guidance of Colony Panchayat to assist the force in providing efficient service to the community, it should be noted that the youth should not take law and order into their own hands, he explained. He implored that the Vigilance Team in the commission of community policing should not resort to violent means but to resolve issues through peaceful channels and coordinate with the police force.
Sekhose also congratulated the new office bearers of OHYO for the tenure 2020-2023. “I hope the new team under its capable leadership will not only prove beneficial for the youths but the colony as a whole,” he said.
The Vigilance Team will be led by Convenor Kezhachulie Ngusanü and member secretary Kelengol Thore.
OHYO chairman Kezhalezo (Azo) Solo said that the formation of the vigilance team to assist OHYO is for providing safety and security to the citizens of Officers’ Hill Colony. While the team is an independent body, all judicial cases will be taken up jointly by OHYO executives and Vigilance Team.
The new team of OHYO is headed by Kezhalezo Solo as president, vice-president-Imoliba Jamir and general secretary Kevilhoulie Linyü.
