After a tweet from Assam Health Minister about a COVID-19 positive case from Dimapur at GCMH, the Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister confirmed the same early Monday morning.
“Unfortunately one person from Dimapur has tested positive of COVID-19 & is under treatment at GMCH at Guwahati,” State’s H&FW Minister, S Pangnyu Phom tweeted at around 2.43 AM, Monday morning.
“Anyone who came into contact with the person will be immediately quarantined,” he added.
The Minister further informed that certain “locations will be sealed for general safety.”
Late on April 12 night, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed in a tweet that a patient from Nagaland who was referred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has tested positive for COVID-19 case.
Thereafter, social media exploded with queries, though health department officials, who were contacted for confirmation, declined to comment on the issue pending confirmation.
However, one official, who wished not to be named, said that the private hospital may have referred the patient to Guwahati for "other reasons" and turned out to be positive.
The official added a second test will be required to confirm it.
The tweet from State’s H&FW Minister officially confirmed the case, though it was yet to be ascertain whether a second test has been done.
