Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The Western Litsami Union and Kulolau Atoizumi Küqhakulu have strongly condemned the alleged negligence surrounding the road accident that claimed the life of Hokugha Chishi near the toll tax gate at Jaranapani on May 25.
In separate statements, the organisations alleged that the deceased, a resident of Litsami Village, was driving a Gypsy vehicle when it collided with a dumper truck.
The organisations claimed that the dumper was allegedly being driven by a 20-year-old inexperienced driver employed by Pushpa Company and alleged that rash and negligent driving led to the fatal accident.
The Western Litsami Union further held the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) responsible for allegedly failing to ensure adequate road safety measures at the site, including proper warning signs and roadblock indications.
Kulolau Atoizumi Küqhakulu also questioned the role of NHIDCL and the concerned authorities, alleging serious lapses in ensuring public safety on the highway.
The organisations stated that entrusting heavy vehicles to allegedly inexperienced drivers posed a serious threat to public safety.
Late Hokugha Chishi is survived by his wife and two young children, the statements said.
Both organisations extended condolences to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them during the difficult time.
They demanded immediate ex-gratia compensation for the family from the State Government of Nagaland, NHIDCL and Pushpa Company, along with speedy processing of insurance claims and entitled benefits.
The organisations also urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a fair, thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and take strict action against all responsible parties.
They stated that they would continue to closely monitor developments in the case until justice is delivered.
