The Advisor, Technical Education & Election, Government of Nagaland, Medo Yhokha today said, “our society still lacked stability, economic reliability and commitment. When we reflect the experiences of the lockdown period, one can realise that a lot of things in our society is unstable and lack reliance.”
The Advisor was addressing students during the 72nd annual general conference of the Kigwema Students' Union (KSU) in the Village Council Hall, Kigwema on the theme “Responses and reflections: Life amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He added that even with all the facilities and assets at our disposal, our people have become very casual and complacent. “When our forefathers have survived without amenities or means of transport, we have become dependent on other states instead,” he lamented.
The advisor said that we have everything from good water and air to best educational facilities with peaceful ambiance and healthy environment, while comparing that needy students from other region like the Eastern Nagas were deprived of these facilities in their quarters.
“They come here to study (referring to the Southern Angami region), they make best use of the opportunity and have produced officers who are examples of hard work and commitment,” he said.
We have to go back to time, reflect and revive rich practices, explore scope to the present context and do to give back to our people and society, Medo said while encouraging the students to strive forth.
Getting yourself adapted to the changing situation given that the pandemic have changed the old normal and technology coming to a mainstay, he advised.
Earlier, the presidential address was given by Thepfükelie Phira. Later, new office bearers will be elected for 2021-2022 tenure.
