CL John, Dr Neisatuo Mero and others at Pfütseromi Tsükhenyie festival on April 24

Nagaland Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guards Minister CL John graced the Pfütseromi Tsükhenyie Festival cum 76th annual youth day of Pfutseromi Youth Organization (PYO) on April 24 at Pfutseromi in presence of MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero.
The event was held under the theme “A responsible youth; the need of the hour.”
Addressing the gathering, John made a fervent appeal to the community to discontinue the hunting of wild animals and birds. He also discouraged burning of forest, jungles and deforestation as the “climate is drastically deteriorating day by day.”
The Minister also encouraged the community to conserve forest and actively participate in forest management in the region as it would offer ecological benefits like biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation.
John also urged upon the people to be aware of Wild Life Protection Act 1972 which was re-amended as the Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Act 2002, primarily focusing on the conservation, protection and management of wildlife.
Further, the Minister challenged the PYO to take up positive youth-led initiatives, create safe spaces and foster culture of inclusivity.
MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero also attended the celebration as feast father. He encouraged the youths to be responsible citizens and be ambassadors for peace. He also told the youths to set a concrete pillar with zeal and vigour for a better and a brighter future.
The programme was chaired by Lhiche Ritse, president PYOPT while Kedoutsozü Mero pronounced act of Tsükhenyie blessings.
Lhiwepelo Ritse, Village council chairman Pfütseromi also shared greetings. Vote of thanks was proposed by PYO advisor Neiwe Mero. The festival was also marked by cultural presentation folk tune, traditional war cry, Tsükhenyie feasts.
