Chümoukedima, June 12 (MExN): A one-day training programme for polling personnel in connection with the upcoming bye-election to Ward No. 11 of the Chümoukedima Town Council was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Chümoukedima, on June 11.
The training was held in the presence of Returning Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner Chümoukedima, T Lemlila Sangtam, and Assistant Returning Officer and EAC (HQ), Er Khriengunuo Theunuo.
District-level Master Trainers briefed polling personnel on election procedures and their duties and responsibilities to ensure smooth conduct of the poll.
The Returning Officer called upon candidates, political parties, ward councillors, civil society organisations and residents to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful, free and fair election. She also urged voters to exercise their democratic rights responsibly and help maintain a conducive atmosphere during the electoral process.
It was informed that polling for the Ward No. 11 bye-election will be held at Government Middle School, Chümoukedima, Block IV, on June 16 from 7:30 am onwards.
