It is frequently brought to the notice of the Veterinary Professional Fraternity that some unscrupulous persons are practicing Veterinary Medicine without qualification. Only a Degree holder in B.V.Sc/B.V.SC & AH, called Veterinary Doctor or Veterinarian, can Diagnose, Treat, Prescribe medicines/Drug, do Surgeries etc.
Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs) and the lay persons manning the Private Veterinary Clinicare NOTAuthourized to Diagnose Diseases, Write Prescriptions, do Surgeries etc. The Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs) are only Paravets. They are to assist and work under the supervisions of the qualified Veterinary Doctors only.
Any non-Qualified person practicing Veterinary Medicine is IMPERSONATING a Veterinary Doctor and practicing Quackery. That person is also CHEATING the Owner of the Animal/Bird.
Impersonation and Cheating are legal offenses under the Indian Penal Code and if any person files an FIR in a Police Station against that unscrupulous person then he/she will be arrested and legal proceedings under appropriate Section(s) of the IPC will be initiated.
Therefore, the public are requested to remain vigil and cautious while availing Veterinary Services for your Animals, Pets, Birds etc. And they are also requested to enquire and verify whether those who are working in the Private Veterinary Clinics are qualified Veterinary Doctors or are just VFA or Sales Person.
