Kohima, September 22 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today appealed to prioritize selection of indigenous inhabitant applicants of the State in the Departmental Examination for Graduate Teachers of Science and Mathematics subjects scheduled for September 25. “Should there be any vacancy arising after accommodating the indigenous inhabitants, the other applicants may be considered,” NSF stated in a representation submitted today to the State Minister for School Education.
The Federation mentioned that as per the record, Educated Unemployed (job seeker applicants) in Nagaland registered as on June 30, 2017 is a staggering 68,210. It also pointed out that the number of Graduates (Bachelor Degree) in 2015, 2016 and 2017 was 3098, 3657 and 3837 respectively whereas, the intake capacity of students for B.Ed per academic year is approximately 900 and out of the total number of B. Ed seats, almost 60% is taken by in-service teachers. Hence, for the forthcoming Departmental Examination the criteria for having B.Ed qualification should not be made mandatory, it stated.
Therefore, NSF President, Kesosul Christopher Ltu and General Secretary Imtiyapang Imsong in the representation stated that in the larger interest of the aspiring candidates and to give all the applicants a fair chance to appear for the examination, the NSF appeals to the authority in office for kind consideration of the concern noted above.
