The Rengma Officers’ Forum (ROF) today held its 17th general body meeting here at the Capital Convention Centre with Parliamentary Secretary for PWD (Housing) Er Levi Rengma as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Er Levi called for mutual understanding and unity among the members of ROF. He also stressed on the need to give due importance towards the upliftment of the society on all fronts. There are about 290 Rengma officers at present.
ROF president Kenilo Apon in his presidential address said that being the highest intellectual body, the Forum shall always continue to involve in all matters of common interest and socio-economic upliftment of “our society”, by way of contributing ideas and inputs in various decision making process. He impressed upon all members to rededicate themselves to play the role as agent of change-change for the better.
Referring to the demand of Tseminyu district and the demand of Government College at Tseminyu, Apon said “We need to sensitize our people and put our heads together and make extra efforts to see that our demand is fulfilled.” Apon also drew the attention of the members to give priority to “our children’s education, as our children are lagging behind in all the competitive exams. This shows that we are not a progressive society. Therefore, let us re-look and change our investment from materialistic to our children’s education. Once our investment on our children’s education is successful our future society can be taken care of, by our children.”
The meeting also witnessed felicitation of toppers and retired members. Dr. G. Kemp, Retd principal director health & family welfare spoke on behalf of retired members while obituary references was made by Er. Kenyelo Kent, vice president ROF. Welcome address by delivered by ROF general secretary Dr. Gwalozii Thong. Vote of thanks was proposed by ROF treasurer Wanthang Wanth. The meeting was followed by business session.
