CP, Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie.
President of Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Mongkum Jamir was the guest of honour at the event. Located at Jed Building, Tajen Ao Road, Duncan Basti, Save Store has been 20 years in the making with extensive research of the markets from across the globe, said Perong Jamir, founder and managing director of the store.
A one-stop shop with value for money, a vast array of items are available, from kitchen items and groceries, electronics and home appliances, apparel and cosmetics, stationery and gift items, home essentials, toys, crockeries and many more, all at discounted prices.
A place where one can save both time and money, Jamir aims to provide luxury to the society according to the economy. With the general impression of the Naga entrepreneurs being "mean," and their products "overly expensive," Jamir assured the customers that the notion ends here at the store, where they are welcome everyday whether one buys anything or not, while at the same time, he aims to provide affordability and convience, "from a Naga to a Naga."
The young employees are all degree holders and trained. Stating that he calls himself a 'Nagapreneur,' which means an entrepreneurship that goes beyond taking a risk, Jamir said that his goal is not just about making profit, but to pass on the art of entrepreneurship to the young Nagas.
He further maintained that the products being cheaper and reasonable doesn't compromise with its quality, claiming that it is among the best of quality with the best rate in Nagaland, if not in the North-East region.
The products are shipped in directly from the factory and whole sellers. With more than 5000 products, including popular brands such as Nike, Puma, Adidas, Shein etc, each product has been extensively researched in the market and brought in as found to be in demand in Nagaland.
Expressing optimism that this is only the beginning, Jamir plans to set up franchises in every nook and corner of the state.
President of BAN, Mongkum Jamir, while lauding the launch of the store, also acknowledged the Commissioner of Police, Sophie for always being forthcoming with the business community.
While maintaining that Nagaland has been a business friendly state welcoming everybody, at the same time, he urged the community to do business ethically. He stated that attempting to have syndicate systems will not do any good for the society and the youngsters, "for whom we have to create an opportunity."
He hoped that the store will be a catalyst for more opportunities for the youths and the business community.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie acknowledged the founder for opening a practical store with practical prices and the right attitude.
With the rising number of unemployment in the society, Sophie held that we have a wrong notion on unemployment. According to him, unemployment means "when you don't have any avenues to earn a living." While for the Nagas in general, "not getting a government job is called unemployment."
He contended that working at private banks and companies is also employment, while calling upon the society to change one's mindset.
Sophie also highlighted the two diseases plaguing the Naga society, viz filing of RTI as a form of 'blackmail' and extortion, to which each individual is directly or indirectly a part of, from family lineage. As a concerned Naga, he implored the Nagas to come forward and join hands to do away with these necessary evils in the society.
Sophie further encouraged the founder and his wife to continue to strive for the betterment of the society through the venture and to take themselves as employees in the store.
Meanwhile, the store plans to begin delivery service soon and requested all to continue to stay updated on the store's social media handles, where lucky draws will be held every day, monthly and annually, with prizes ranging from tea cupset to e-scooty.
