Sazolie College conducts seminar on career guidance

Resource persons, lecturers and students during a seminar on career guidance at Sazolie College on March 2.

 

Kohima, March 3 (MExN):  In an effort to create awareness and develop an interest in taking up new courses of study and ventures of skill enhancement, a seminar on Career Guidance was organized by Sazolie College in collaboration with YouthNet and Educenter on March 2 last.


The seminar was conducted for Semester VI students of the college. 


The resource persons were Benjamin Longkap, SDO (C), Meluri; Additional Charge of EAC, Lephong; Lichan Humtsoe, entrepreneur and photographer and Pritam Thapa, Director of the North Eastern Educational Consultancy (NEEC).


Speaking on the prospects of Civil Services, Benjamin Longkap elaborated on the procedures and recruitment to various civil services. 


He highlighted on how success comes through one’s way.  “If you want to embark on this exam, you have to be ready for any eventuality. You have to really study,” Longkap said.


NEEC Director Pritam Thapa highlighted on the educational patterns in India and abroad. 


He oriented the students on the pre-requisites of pursuing studies both at under-graduate as well as post-graduate levels. He mentioned that the NEEC has MOU with YouthNet to guide students interested in overseas studies.


Lichan Humtsoe, who is also the CEO of Ete Coffee focused on the aspect of entrepreneurship. He shared his experiences and forays into music, government service and photography before he became successful with his coffee business (Ete Coffee). “To undertake any private businesses, one need not depend solely on funds coming through Government sources” stated Humtsoe. Further, he encouraged the students to “start now and not later.”


Dr Kangzangding Thou, Principal of Sazolie College in his welcome speech expressed appreciation for what the Youthnet and Educenter had been doing for students of the College.


The seminar included interactive sessions and queries were raised by students.  The moderator of the seminar was Robin Temsu, HoD Department of History, Sazolie College.
