Speakers from different universities along with faculty members of St Joseph University Chümoukedima during the international conference on ‘Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation’ held at SJU from November 9-10.
CHÜMOUKEDIMA, NOVEMBER 10 (MExN): St. Joseph University (SJU) Chümoukedima's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IAQC) successfully organized the inaugural international conference on "Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation" on November 9 and 10.
According to a press release, Dr Imkongsenla Longchar, Head of the Department of Education and Director of IQAC, outlining the conference's objectives, said it aimed to serve as an international scientific forum for the exchange of new ideas, research insights, sharing recent innovations, trends, and challenges across various disciplines.
The event received a total of 168 papers and posters, with 152 being selected. Noteworthy was the international representation from Tanzania, Oman, and Brazil, alongside national presenters from different parts of India, primarily the North-east.
The conference commenced with a keynote address by Dr D Gnanadurai, Vice-Chancellor of SJU, emphasizing the essence and importance of multidisciplinary aspects in education. Dr Gnanadurai urged that research should not be confined to one aspect but should progress towards innovation and the inventive process, benefiting and impacting society and the educational system.
Special guest, Abhinav Shivam, Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima, stressed the importance of openness to ideas and change. He remarked that the future of society lies in the research conducted within university campuses, encouraging individuals to engage in multidisciplinary research and innovation to shape a progressive society.
The conference featured technical sessions conducted by distinguished speakers from various parts of the world. Notable sessions included those led by Dr Khokan CH Das (Assam University Diphu campus), Dr Musole Siachise (Mulungushi University, Zambia), Dr Julian Andres Munevar (UFABC, Soa Paulo, Brazil), Preetha Joseph (CVRDE-Chennai, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, India), and Dr Ruksana Banu (Muscat College, Sultanate of Oman).
The event concluded with a valedictory function hosted by Dr S Girish Patil, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Nagaland.
