Team in-charge for COVID-19 visits Kiphire district

Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining V Kashiho Sangtam and Advisor School Education K T Sukhalu, in-charge of Kiphire for COVID-19 accompanied by T Seopi Sangtam, President United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) held a review meeting to assist the preparedness with District Task Force (DTF) members at DC's Conference hall on April 11.
Addressing DTF members, Minister V Kashiho Sangtam lauded the district administration, police, medical fraternity and civil societies for extending support and cooperation towards the government in fight against COVID-19. He stated that the only way to defeat the disease is to strictly abide and enforce government policy and guidelines.
Stressing on the importance for community to maintain social distancing, Kashiho urged upon the people of Kiphire to have healthy personal hygiene to protect oneself from the disease. Kashiho assured the members that government is well prepared to tackle any case if it so arises however he said for now Nagaland was relatively safe with no cases of COVID-19 reported.
He informed that those students and youths from Nagaland who are working in other states and wanted to return home after the lockdown is lifted will be quarantine at Dimapur and Kohima.
He assured DTF of all help and support and in this regard urged upon district administration to submit the list of any materials that may be needed in the district and further handed over 1 lakh to the district administration towards COVID-19 fund. Minister also donated 180 lts of hand sanitizer, 300 nos of hand gloves and face mask.
Taking part in the meeting, Advisor K T Sukhalu said before coming to Kiphire he was a bit worried about the preparedness for COVID-19 in Kiphire however, he pointed out that he was very much satisfied with the preparedness after inspecting and going through the plan set in place by the Kiphire medical department.
He stated that within the state there is no much threat of COVID-19 “but the problem comes from the border as not much information is coming out from Myanmar and we do not know if there is any case of COVID-19.”
He said that government is advising all those youths who are stranded in different parts of India to be there at their own place as of now if it is not an emergency.
He further commended the district administration, Police, Medical department and civil societies for successful working together at these difficult times. He assured the DTF members that any problem faced by the district will be looked into and taken up at the highest level.
Both the Minister and Advisor inspected newly converted COVID-19 hospital and DADU girls hostel designated as quarantine home at medical ward and during the visit new isolation ward was inaugurated by Advisor KT Sukhalu.
As the chairperson of DTF Sarita Yadav, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire thanked the visiting MLA's for visiting Kiphire to review the preparedness of the district. The DC informed the MLAs that lockdown in Kiphire is been enforced successful with the help and full cooperation from the general public of Kiphire.
She pointed out that medical department Kiphire was doing a tremendous job inspite of the limited resources.
Addl SP Kiphire, Thsürhosie Kajiri informed the house that police department Kiphire has received one new ambulance from the Police Headquarter which he said was keep as standby to be used in the event of any eventualities.
