The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) held its felicitation program for Naga HSLC Toppers on June 21 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima. Tongpang Ozukum, Minister of PWD graced the occasion as the Guest Speaker.
Out of 37 toppers in the Nagaland HSLC examination in 2018, there were 18 Naga Toppers.
Lauding the achievement of the toppers, guest speaker, Tongpang Ozukum encouraged the students to never settle for contentment or mediocrity with their present achievement but continue to work harder in their further academic studies. "If you are content with what you have achieved that is the beginning of downfall of your academic career. Success is not a destination, it is a journey that goes on and on," said Ozukum.
Topping the HSLC examination must be viewed as a stepping stone to achieve other milestones, viewed Ozukum while urging the students to excel in their academics and future profession and maintain a competitive spirit. "Mediocrity has no opportunity in the competitive world," maintained Ozukum.
Considering the success of the HSLC toppers as their first step of achievement, Kesosul Christopher Ltu said that the achievement is just the starting point, and therefore the students have to maintain this consistency in future.
"You have to keep working hard and be consistent. The tag of being a HSLC topper will not stay for long. Being a topper is just a starting goal to a better end" said Ltu.
The NSF President in the presidential note emphasised on the growing unemployment in Nagaland where in 2017, the state registered 70,000 educated unemployed. "This is a serious threat of mindset and on our future. Instead of progressing, we are accumulating more unemployment," viewed Ltu urging the toppers to formulate ideas and develop more avenues in their future careers. Ltu also stated that the toppers shoulder a greater responsibility in developing the society and for the generation of students to come.
"Be reminded that you must be a source of employment and revenue of our state. Don't just be an employee, be an employer. Prosper ahead with the most broad ambition in life" he remarked.
Neingusanuo Kire, Topper No. 8, from Northfield, Kikha spoke on behalf of the toppers.
