Total lockdown lifted in Aboi

Mon, August 18 (MExN): Total lockdown in Aboi subdivision of Mon district has been lifted with effect from August 18 with a set of guidelines for citizens and commercial establishments notified by the Deputy Commissioner, the DIPR informed. 

The DC, Thavaseelan K has notified citizens that certain ‘personal behaviour guidelines’ have to be followed as safety precautions to break the chain of transmission.

According to the guidelines, all citizens should treat himself/herself as an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 and compulsorily wear face masks in public places, work place and during commutes. A fine of Rs 100 will be imposed for violation, it said.

Everyone must maintain a maximum distance of six feet in public places, work place and spitting on public places has strictly prohibited, it added.

The DC also cautioned against stigmatization of returnees released from the quarantine centres.

Consumption of paan, gutka, tobacco products has also been prohibited and persons above 65 years of age, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years were advised to stay at home except for medical purposes.

Large public gathering for social, religious, cultural and academic purposes will continue to remain prohibited, however, in the case of funerals, not more than 20 people will be permitted.

The concerned ward/village task forces are to strictly enforce the provision, it said.

Further, it said that commercial establishments like hair cutting saloons, hotels and dine-in restaurants will remain closed. Home deliveries will however be permitted with strict adherence to safety protocols.

Vehicles plying from Assam carrying essential commodities for Aboi subdivision will be allowed on all days except Saturday and Sunday but intra-district movement of people and private vehicles will be prohibited except for medical emergencies, official duty or COVID-19 related duty.

In the case of containment zones, the DC has informed that total lockdown will continue to remain in force, unless notified otherwise. All activities within a containment zone will be strictly monitored by the ward, block or village task force for delivery of essential goods and services, he added.

Any person found violating these measures will be liable to be prosecuted against as per the provisions of section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, besides legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other legal provisions as applicable, the DC cautioned.
