
PEREN, MAY 15 (MExN): In a proactive measure to equip local farmers with essential skills and knowledge, ATMA Peren, Tening Block organised a comprehensive training session focusing on piggery farming techniques and disease management at Nkialwa village on May 13. With the recent outbreak of African swine fever causing concern in Nagaland, the emphasis of the training was primarily on disease management strategies to safeguard the local swine population from potential threats, a DIPR report informed.
Rokozhalie Namdau (ATM) led the session, stressing the importance of implementing effective disease management practices amidst the looming threat of African swine fever. Namdau elaborated on various aspects of disease prevention and control, highlighting the significance of biosecurity measures, proper sanitation practices, and timely vaccinations to mitigate the risk of infectious diseases. As part of the initiative, essential medicines were distributed among the attending farmers to facilitate immediate action and preventive measures on their respective farms.
Meanwhile, in a bid to bolster food security initiatives and empower local communities, ATMA Peren also identified and inaugurated a new Food Security Group (Siarau Food Security Group) in Nkialwa Village. A total of 10 members actively participated in the training session.
