United village like mini Nagaland, says Khing

Dimapur | February 8 : The 43rd foundation day of Naga United Village was celebrated today at the village local ground. A grand programme was held to commemorate the occasion.  The programme was chaired by Zasitso Tsuzuh, Secretary VDB Naga United Village. Welcome address was given by Wezhiepe Lekro, V.C.C and a brief history of the village was read out by Sani Chakre head GB.
 R. Khing Parliamentary Secretary, Horticulture graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech he said that United Village is like a mini Nagaland where different tribes have settled and live in harmony with each other. He added that the founders of the village (the village was founded in 1968) had sweated and toiled, so that their children could live peacefully. “Though our founders are long gone, I believe that their spirits look down and rejoice with us today,” Khing said.
R. Khing challenged the gathering to live up to the name of the village- ‘United’, to stay in unity spiritually, socially and mentally. He asked the gathered crowd to throw away ‘isms’ and be a model village. To this end he added that the NPF is constantly working towards ‘peace for development’ and ‘development for peace’.” We have succeeded in bringing some semblance of peace but in order to consolidate this peace, we Nagas have to work together in unity” he said. Khing also called upon the young people to develop ‘work culture’ and help the elders in building a better safer society. The chief guest donated Rs 50,000 to the village fund and also three thousand rupees each to the cultural troupes who performed at the occasion.  
The vote of thanks was given by Mase Vero G.B and benediction was pronounced by Rev. Yapang. A grand feast was held after the occasion this was followed by games and exhibition matches where all inhabitants and guest took part of enthusiastically.
