Veterinary services now exempt from purview of lockdown

Kohima, April 7 (MExN): The State Government in a notification issued on April 6, included the services of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services to its list of “essential requirements.”

As such, the Department of AH&VS has notified that all Veterinary Hospitals, Veterinary Dispensaries, Veterinary Health Centres, laboratories, Disease Diagnostics & Quarantine Check Posts including Private Veterinary Clinics and Pharmacies within Nagaland will remain functional during the lockdown period.

All livestock and poultry farming operations both under government and private sectors are also exempted from the purview of the lockdown. This includes animal feed plants in government and private sectors, transportation/inter-state movement of animal feed and fodder which are essential items.

Additionally, all diary processing plants will remain operational ensuring procurement from producer farmers and smooth supply of milk and milk products to consumers.

All concerned functionaries and personnel have therefore, been requested to discharge their responsibility with strictest adherence to personal hygiene/workplace hygiene and safety guidelines as recommended by the WHO and state government.

Except during dispensation of their duties, the functionaries are advised to strictly desist from misuse of movement other than in their assigned area of work/route which may invite appropriate action under the present advisory in force, the notification stated.
