
Southern Nagas’ Union of Nagaland State brings together community leaders for pre-Christmas get-together
Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): The Convenor of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), Rev Dr Wati Aier said, “We must stop talking about eastern, western or southern Nagas. We must become one to make a complete Naga.”
Dr Wati stated this while delivering “a brotherhood message” during a pre-Christmas get-together organized by the Southern Nagas’ Union of Nagaland State (SNUNS) with all tribal leaders of Nagaland based in Dimapur at Poumai Baptist Church on December 18, informed a press release issued by SNUNS President, Sanü Putukho.
Dwelling on present context of the Nagas situation at this critical juncture, Dr Wati expressed deep concern over the lack of trust for one another and every community living in their own cocoon.
“Today we are so divided. This is our own creation. The warring culture is still in our minds. We must do away this in the name of Christmas as Christians. We must become one and live as one,” he exhorted.
Eastern Nagas Peoples’ Union Dimapur (ENPUD), President, L Shahoto Yimchungru also urged the leaders to retrospect and introspect where Nagas have gone wrong today. “Unity first before anything, and ENPUD stands for that; we have to work it out,” he emphasized.
Tenyimia Union Dimapur, Treasurer, Veshu Vero and NA Kasar, a senior citizen also exhorted during the occasion, while SNUNS, President, Sanü Putukho delivered the welcome address and SNUNS General Secretary Kashungnao Worshim chaired the programme. The invocation was said by S Angrung Tarao, Director, Transforming Life Mission, Dimapur and benediction by Rev Candid Sareo, Pastor, TBC, Diphupar. Ngavapmi and friends presented song. About 60 leaders from various communities attended the programme.
