The Nationwide IEC (Information, Education and Communication) Campaign under PM JANMAN and DA-JGUA in Wokha district concluded on Monday, following a week-long outreach programme conducted from May 18 to 25.
The campaign was organised under the theme “Jan Bhagidari Satse Door Sabse Pehle”. The initiative aimed at intensifying awareness, ensuring last-mile delivery of government services, and achieving saturation of welfare benefits for tribal communities, particularly the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
During the campaign period, coordinated field-level outreach activities were carried out across identified villages in the district, focusing on dissemination of information on various government schemes, beneficiary saturation, health screening, livelihood promotion, grievance redressal, and facilitation of entitlement services.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao, while reviewing the campaign, stated that the programme cover a significant number of villages across the district through decentralised efforts. He noted that the campaign served as both an awareness initiative and an assessment exercise to understand the extent to which people had benefitted from government schemes.
He informed that various activities were undertaken during the outreach camps, including community screenings, awareness on risk and welfare schemes, livelihood promotion, and dissemination of information on government entitlements. He further stated that special attention was given to ensuring outreach to vulnerable sections of the population across number of villages in the district.
Tsanglao acknowledged that the campaign faced several challenges, including financial constraints, poor accessibility to remote areas, and adverse weather conditions. However, he appreciated the efforts of all departments and stakeholders involved for carrying out the programme despite the limitations.
He stated that the campaign should be viewed as a beginning of a larger process, expressing optimism that future rounds of outreach would be better coordinated and more comprehensive to ensure 100 per cent saturation of benefits among eligible populations.
The DC further highlighted the importance of convergence among multiple stakeholders, including the district administration, Health Department, line departments, self-help groups, village councils, organisations, and banking institutions in strengthening service delivery mechanisms.
He also noted that the exercise had generated valuable data and insights, which would help authorities identify gaps and areas requiring greater focus to improve accessibility and ensure eligible beneficiaries receive entitlements under various government schemes.
The campaign concluded with officials sharing their experience, stating that lessons learnt from the present outreach would contribute towards more effective implementation of future programmes in the district.
