NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato) calls allegations malicious

The woman caught in the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) racket, allegedly linked to a Naga political group, is in police custody after voluntarily surrendering on Saturday morning. As per credible sources, suo moto case has been registered to investigate the matter.

The controversy surfaced on September 12, when NSCN-K (Isak) claimed to have uncovered the racket in Dimapur. The woman was reportedly apprehended with FICN in Rs 500 denomination totaling Rs 8.3 lakh. According to NSCN-K (Isak), her statement implicated NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato) leaders Ato Kilonser and Hokato Vusshe in the operation.

The Khango-Hokato camp, however, refuted the allegations, calling them a smear campaign. The group said it was also investigating the woman independently. The woman, in turn, counter-alleged that Hokato Vusshe, their Ato Kilonser, had financed the printing and racketeering of the FICN.

Before surrendering to police, she told media on September 12 that she was being isolated and made the scapegoat. She also named other associates allegedly involved and claimed that Vusshe’s Kilo Kilonser, Viniho Kiho, performed the dedicatory prayer when the FICN printing operation was set up.

Khango-Hokato issued another rebuttal on September 13, questioning the woman’s credibility and alleged scamming history. Viniho Kiho, the group’s Kilo Kilonser, accused NSCN-K (Isak) of orchestrating the claims to gain favor with the Government of India for a ceasefire agreement. He said the woman had a history of fraud, including police records and had been banished from Zunheboto for a fake currency scam.

Kiho denied making the dedicatory prayer and reiterated that his organisation would fully cooperate with any police investigation. In a separate media statement, the NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato) Ministry of Information and Publicity described the allegations as “frivolous and malicious propaganda” and said the woman’s identity, as reported by the Isak camp, was false.

The statement accused NSCN-K (Isak) of using her “manipulative tactics” to create a “poorly constructed smokescreen” and shift blame for their operational failures, adding that the incident exposed the rival faction’s lack of discernment and operational security rather than implicating Khango-Hokato.
