The Zapami village community burial ground was formally inaugurated today by Keyirangding Hegui, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Phek.
Speaking on the occasion, the Project Director expressed happiness over the successful execution of the project, which was constructed under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
He called upon the villagers to continue to continue to put concerted efforts for all round development of the community.
He maintained that every village in Nagaland has its own charm in terms of cultural, traditional practices, scenic beauty and favorable climatic condition.
He said Zapami village with its scenic beauty, valley type paddy cultivation and its traditional practices has potential to figure in the tourist attraction map as a tourist village.
In this, he called upon the people to capitalize its rich resources to become a tourist hotpot in the coming days.
Vekhrolo Koza, Block Development Officer (BDO) Pfutsero also spoke on the occasion. Zapami Village Development Board (VDB) secretary Kedoutsolhi Wetsah stated that the project was constructed at the total cost of Rs.29 lakh.
The work for construction of this burial ground includes; site leveling, shed building, footstep, retaining wall, security fencing, entrance and exit gate, sanitation and drainage, seat arrangement for beautification, irrigation channel with 28 humpipe, toilet facilities and installation of solar lights.
The programme was chaired by Er Lhiwepe Khutsoh while Zapami Baptist Church pastor Chikhro Khutso pronounced dedicatory prayer.
Zapami Village Council chairman Zewekha Wetsah delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by GB Wekhazü Kreo.
Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Mikha Kenye including several other dignitaries also present on the occasion.
