ZCN calls for repair of Mhainamtsi to 7th Mile road

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Zeme Council Nagaland (ZCN) has urged the Nagaland Government to and the NHIDCL to repair and widen the narrow portions of the Mhainamtsi to 7th Mile road which is now being frequently used to divert vehicle traffic from Dimapur to Kohima due to the ongoing 4-lane works.

A press release from the ZCN recognized that the ongoing construction of four lane road between the commercial hub Dimapur and the state capital Kohima is a big dream come true for the citizens of the state. It appreciated the State and Central governments for taking up the development and hoped for its early completion.

It meanwhile pointed out that the Mhainamtsi to 7th Mile road is a narrow single lane road “never maintained by the State PWD.” This road was maintained and used by the citizens of Peren District for many years, it stated.

“While it is natural to bring inconvenience by such massive project, the citizens of Peren District have been tolerating it silently for the last 4/5 months hoping that the government and the implementing agency will at least repair and maintain this important link road for the convenience of commuters,” the ZCN said.

“But now the road has become deplorable with such heavy traffic from diversion and all commuters are witness to the condition of the road,” it lamented.

The ZCN therefore urged the Nagaland Government and NHIDCL to immediately repair and widen narrow portions of the road for continuation of such heavy traffic.
