Nagaland Film Festival, 2nd edition from October 31

Celebrating films from North East India, the 2nd Nagaland Film Festival will be held from October 31 to November 1 at the Capital Convention Center, Kohima.
Jointly organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the Film Association of Nagaland, the festival will purely showcase films from all the North Eastern States.
The two day film festival will feature award winning films, master-class, screening of films and documentaries in the competition category, and special appearances by renowned film makers.
Addressing a press conference on October 15, the organisers of the film festival stated that the objective is to promote films in Nagaland and the North East, and to provide a platform for filmmakers in the region. Films being a unique form of storytelling, Tokishe Sema, Additional Director IPR noted that people get to know us through such mediums." He encouraged filmmakers to participate at the festival.
The Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) was also formally launched during the press conference along with the association's Logo. The organisers informed that FAN was formed with the "intention of ensuring the overall improvement in the standard of filmmaking, to safeguard the interests of genuine and established individuals in the field of producing, directing, cinematography, editing, scriptwriting, sound recording and other related activity in the area of filmmaking of Nagaland".
To enhance technical and professional skills, FAN will be holding screening of films, seminars, workshops, training sessions and other forms of interaction. FAN has 40 registered members at present.
Limawati Ao, Director, IPR mentioned that the Directorate of Information and Publicity will be the nodal department, where FAN will be the primary association through which all films and related matters will go through.
Ao also informed that renowned Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai will be making a special appearance on November 1 at the film festival.
Yapangnaro Longkumer, Festival Director briefed that the team has received 56 films in total with 28 films entered in the competition and another 28 in the non-competition entry.
The two categories for the competition section are short fiction and short documentary under 10 minutes.
Highlighting the events for the Festival, Film Director, Kivini Shohe informed that Nicholas Lemtur Kharkonger, Director of Axone and Filmmaker Moji Riba from Arunachal Pradesh will be conducting master-classes during the festival.
This year's film festival will feature award winning films Village Rockstars (Rima Daa), Ma. Ama (Dominic Sangma), and Aamis (Bhaskar Hazarika).
Ma. Ama, a Garo film by Dominic Sangma is about an elderly man whose hope of reuniting with his wife in the afterlife and the need to settle his earthly affairs leads him with difficult questions.
Aamis, an Assamese film by Bhaskar Hazarika revolves around a lonely married woman's relationship with a younger man over their shared love of unusual food.
