Dimapur, March 11 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have undertaken several humanitarian and civic actions across the Nagaland during the past week.
In Zunheboto district, the 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) conducted a free medical camp in Sakhalu village on March 8.
Altogether, 361 patients, including those from far flung areas in need of medical treatment, were examined during the medical camp, an AR press note informed. The medical team was led by Deputy Commandant Ratan Chabungbam and assisted by Dr. Bohovi and Dr. Mughalu, Medical Officers from District Hospital and their supporting staff, it said.
Free medical treatment and free medicines were given to the villagers of Sakhalu and surrounding villages of Yemish and Shoixe, it added.
An Exhibition Stall of ‘Know your Assam Rifles’ was also established to familiarise the locals about various projects undertaken in various spheres in Zunheboto district and a career counselling with the theme ‘Recruitment in Army & CAPF’ was also organised during the camp.
Meanwhile, in Chentang Saddle Village, with an endeavour to promote healthy habits and preventive measures for good health, 15 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a lecture on health issues on March 8.
A total of 30 villagers attended the interaction programme, wherein Captain (Dr) Prakash Chandra Rai, RMO spoke about hygiene, sanitation and other health related issues, the AR said in another press note. The doctor further emphasized on the preventive measures to be taken against prevalent diseases and offered help at unit MI room for emergency cases, it added.
In Kiphire Village, with an aim to propagate the concept of “Healthy Society,” the 7 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) also provided a Water Supply Scheme (Borewell) on March 7. The Borewell was handed over the villagers in the presence of village council chairman and members, the AR informed.
