
New Delhi, February 11 (MExN): A total of 5507 km road has been identified for development under Bharatmala Pariyojana in North-Eastern Region.
The Minister of State for Road Transport, Shipping and Chemical & Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya informed this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on February 11.
According to an MoRTH official release via PIB, the Ministry has taken up massive road development programme in North-Eastern region under Special Accelerated Road Development Programme-North East (SARDP-NE).
Under this programme 2910 km road has already been developed and 3508 km is under implementation, it said.
The Minister, however, did not give others details of roads development under SARDP-NE or the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
According to india.gov.in, Bharatmala Pariyojana is a “new umbrella program for the highways sector that focuses on optimizing efficiency of freight and passenger movement across the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through effective interventions.”
It include development of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes, National Corridor Efficiency Improvement, Border and International connectivity roads, Coastal and Port connectivity roads and Green-field expressways.
