The British team on a 39-hour walk billed as “39 Hours -Walking in My Grandfather’s Footsteps” from Jessami reached Nagaland’s state capital Kohima this afternoon.

The 39-hour walk is KET Trustee Charlotte Carty's mission to remember her grandfather Lieutenant Colonel William Felix “Bruno” Brown, Commanding Officer of 1st Assam Regiment, during the Battle of Kohima 1944.
Carty from Milborne Port, walked 77 miles in 39 hours with her three children and 20 fellow descendants of those who fought in the battle and others, to mark the 80th anniversary of the event.

The walkers, including the grandson of Field Marshal William Slim, started their journey on midnight of April 1 from Jessami (Manipur) as starting point.
On their arrival, they visited World War II Cemetery, Kohima.

Meanwhile, they will be attending the commemoration programme of 80th anniversary of the Battle of Kohima on April 4, 11 AM at the World War II Cemetery.
