Call to foster friendship between Nagaland & Rajasthan

Kohima, March 30 (MExN): The Foundation Day of the state of Rajasthan was celebrated at Raj Bhavan Kohima, Nagaland on March 30.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor La Ganesan he said, “We should prioritise fostering the bonds of friendship between the people of Nagaland and Rajasthan and cherish our shared heritage, building upon it for a prosperous and harmonious future, showcasing our collective resilience.”

The commemoration of Rajasthan’s journey as a state of India today also recognizes the pivotal role every citizen plays in shaping a vibrant India, as both Nagaland and Rajasthan are home to industrious, resilient, and peace-loving individuals. Together, both are not just states but a united family within the Union of India, the Governor noted. 

He said that Rajasthan is not only the largest state in India but it also holds a profoundly significant place in the socio-cultural, economic and historical landscape of the country, PRO Raj Bhavan stated in a press release. 

Rajasthan’s multi-faceted contributions to India span cultural, economic, ecological and strategic dimensions. Its vibrant culture, historical importance, economic contributions and strategic location underscores its significance to our country’s identity, economy and security. Rajasthan is indeed a jewel in India’s crown, contributing to our country’s diversity, heritage and strength, the Governor stated. 
Paying tribute to the spirit of the nation through the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, Ganesan said this initiative aims to deepen understanding and foster bonds among states, thereby fortifying India’s unity and integrity. Given India’s vast cultural spectrum encompassing attire, cuisine, and ethnicity, it’s crucial to enhance interactions and appreciation for this diversity. The programme serves as a platform to bridge cultural gaps while honoring and embracing India’s rich plurality. Furthermore, it seeks to celebrate the residents of each state, regardless of their geographical location within the country, he added.

He lauded the business practices and ethics of Rajasthani people, particularly the Marwari, who have long served as exemplary models both within and beyond our state, greatly influencing local entrepreneurs and fostering a culture of enterprise and innovation in Nagaland.

“Their significant role in various aspects of India’s commercial landscape, including commerce, culture, and social development, extends to Nagaland as well. Their notable contributions in commerce and trade have facilitated the availability of goods and services in the region, while their business establishments have provided employment opportunities for the local populace, thus linking Nagaland to broader markets across India,” he added.

In addition to their involvement in commerce and trade, those residing in Nagaland have played a significant role in social upliftment endeavors, he maintained. “Numerous individuals have made impactful contributions to the local community through initiatives in education, healthcare, and social welfare,” Ganesan stated. He said that their educational institutions, scholarship programs, and healthcare services have offered crucial support to the Naga populace, contributing to enhanced quality of life and improved social indicators across the state.

Earlier a video presentation on goodwill message of the Governor of Rajastan, Kalraj Mishra and Cultural heritage and tradition of Rajastan was screened. Opening remarks was said by Rajesh Soundararajan,  IAS, Secretary to Governor, Speech on Rajastan State was given by, Raj Priy Singh, IFoS, Conservator of Forests, Dimapur, short speeches by Basu Damani, General Secretary of Shree Marwari Samaj, Dimapur and Vice President, BJP, Nagaland. Highlights of the programme included, cultural dances performed by the Rajasthani community of Dimapur.
