Church observes World Nature Conservation Day

Senapati, July 28 (MExN): In observation of World Nature Conservation Day, July 28, St. Joseph Church Maram Bazar conducted its 2nd phase of tree plantation. The endeavour was part of social responsibility activity in commemoration of its Golden Jubilee Year 2018, informed a press release from Jubilee Publicity Wing L. Luikang John.   Col G.K Mahindra, Commandant 34 AR Maram, who was the event guest, appreciated the initiative of the villagers in giving back to the Mother Nature by planting trees. Reminding that the tribals, since time immemorial, have been coexisting with God’s gifted natural environment, he was optimistic the endeavour will not only benefit the local populace but importantly create an awareness to conserve nature to nearby villagers and surrounding. A positive action in one corner of the world creates ripples to other parts, he stated.   Earlier, Dr. Ngouniba Peter, Convener of the Jubilee highlighted the significance of the event and Local catechist Oja Kabi invoked God’s Blessing.   The symbolic tree plantation was led by the event guest, which was followed by community tree plantation at the site, so chosen, for the Jubilee plantation purpose project. Over 1,500 numbers of Tree Bean/Yongchak was planted on the event.   The 1st phase of tree plantation was held on July 4 on the occasion of Van Mahotsova at the village sinking zone, the release informed.
