Deputy CM, others condemn shooting incident in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, January 26 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, who also holds the Home portfolio, has condemned the shooting incident that occurred within the premises of the District Forest Officer's office in Zunheboto. The incident, which took place on the night of January 24, involved gunfire damaging a government vehicle belonging to an officer.

Patton described the act as unacceptable in a civilized society, calling for collective condemnation. He directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend the culprits at the earliest and ensure they face appropriate punishment.

The Zunheboto Town GB Association (ZTGBA) also issued a strong condemnation of the incident, describing it as a reckless and deplorable act that disrupts peace and order in the community. The association urged the authorities to take stern legal action against those responsible to deliver justice and prevent such acts in the future.

ZTGBA further appealed to citizens to uphold values of peace, unity, and respect for law and order, emphasizing their importance in fostering community progress.

In a related development, the Zunheboto Range Students' Union (ZRSU) has also condemned the shooting, calling it a shocking and unacceptable act of violence. The incident, which targeted the vehicle of a subordinate of Shri Obed Bohovi Swat, District Forest Officer, Zunheboto, was described as a direct threat to the safety of public servants dedicated to serving the community.

ZRSU called for the swift apprehension of the culprits and demanded that justice be served promptly, highlighting the negative impact such incidents have on peace and stability. However, the union also praised the police for their swift action in responding to the situation, which helped restore community confidence and reinforced the importance of law and order.

ZRSU expressed solidarity with Shri Obed Bohovi Swu (DFO, Zunheboto Division), his team, and all public servants working for the welfare of the people. The union called on citizens to reject violence and work towards creating a peaceful and safe environment for all.
