Every part of Nagaland will have 4G coverage: MoS Chandrasekhar

Dimapur Govt College to become a skilling hub

Entire Nagaland would be connected by 4G internet soon, if a Central government scheme plays out according to plan.

Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced on September 27 that there is going to be a “big change in Nagaland” in the coming months, which will come in the shape of 4G internet coverage in every part of the state.

“The PM approved a scheme two months ago that no part of Nagaland, indeed, no part of the northeast will be left without minimum 4G coverage,” Chandrasekhar told a press conference in Dimapur, today.

Of his three-day visit to the state, he claimed that he got to see in person “the real effect of a double engine sarkar” wherein a state government is working closely with a Central government headed by a proactive and determined Prime Minister.

Speaking of his visit to Zunheboto and Wokha, he said that he saw households that are now getting tapped water via the Jal Jeevan Mission and houses built via the PM Awaz Yojna for people, who could never afford to build one. According to him, in Zunheboto, he was told that he was the first Minister to visit the district in 40 years. Good governance, he said, is transforming the lives of individuals, while giving a sense of optimism to the PM’s promise of ‘Sab ka sath, sab ka vikas, sab ka vishwas.’

While success stories are one, he admitted to the need for “fine-tuning” the guidelines of certain development schemes in line with local needs. “Any unintended exclusion” should be addressed “because when a scheme is designed for all of India there is a need to then fine-tune it for particular states and communities.”

According to him, there have been some instances pointed out that the banks are not giving credit even though there are people who are entitled.

He further informed that he also met District Collectors (Deputy Commissioners) and emphasised the need to create district specific skill development plans that would take advantage of a district’s unique potential and skills. “I have requested all the DCs to work with the district skill committee to develop a uniquely relevant district skill development plan for each district. And we will work with them to deliver the skills,” he said.

He wrapped up the three-day visit at the Dimapur Government College (DGC) where he interacted with students. As per a Press Information Bureau release, the MoS announced that the DGC will soon be converted into a skilling hub under the Skill India Mission and that the students can avail of the opportunities to get themselves future-ready.

The release said that he shared with the students the Prime Minister’s vision of a New India for young Indians and urged them to empower themselves with skills training for pursuing their future life choices. “New India offers lot many opportunities than ever before. Success is determined by hard work and capability and not by affiliations to any political or business family or influence. Innovation and skilling are going to drive our future as India steps into what PM Narendra Modi ji terms as India’s Techade,” he said.
