First president of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union passes away

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has condoled the passing away of N Ghoshito Achumi, first president of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU). 

In a press note, NSF stated that N Ghoshito Achumi's contributions to the student community and to the broader Naga society are immeasurable. His leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of students have left an indelible mark on our collective consciousness. His journey, from serving as the General Secretary of the Dimapur Government College Students' Council to becoming the founding President of DNSU in 1977, exemplifies his passion for advocating for the rights and aspirations of Naga youth. 

“As we reflect on his life and legacy, we are reminded of his vision and pioneering spirit, which continue to inspire generations of students to strive for excellence and to stand up for justice. His tireless efforts in championing the cause of education and empowerment have left a lasting impact on our community, and his memory will forever be cherished,” NSF stated.

Meanwhile, Akato Chophi, President, NSCN/GPRN expressed pain at the demise of N Ghoshito Achumi on March 26 from Eden Hospital. 
“Ghoshito, who hailed from Yehemi village, was a selfless social activist, a philanthropist, a politician and a visionary leader, who never said never and who always dared to face any challenges, come what may. Besides other achievements, he was the founder/president of DNSU (Dimapur Naga Students Union). He was also a member of the DMC (erstwhile DTC Dimapur Town Committee) and currently, the GB of Dimapur Churches colony,” he stated in a press release. 

“His unfortunate demise has left a deep void in the society which will surely be felt by everyone, especially the Sumis in particular and the Nagas in general. The late leader leaves behind his legacy for all to cherish on as a torchbearer, a frontrunner and a harbinger of peace, but above all a loving father to his children and a true friend to his companions,” he stated.

“I most fervently invoke God's grace to kindly rest his soul in eternal peace and also prays that the good Lord provide solace to his family members and friends during our time of grief,” Chophi added.
