Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, C Apok Jamir today laid the foundation for a Pilgrim Rest Camp – to be called as Pilgrim’s Haven – at Clark’s suspension bridge here today in the presence of a host of leaders and council members from Molungyimsen and Ungma villages and others.
The inclement weather condition did not deter the Parliamentary Secretary and his entourage to arrive at the site, which is located just after crossing the well-known suspension Clark’s bridge over the Milak River.
The ‘Pilgrim’s Rest Camp’ will consist of some buildings for visitors to Molungyimsen – declared Naga Heritage village by the state government 2011 – which will be built by Imolemba Jamir who is presently the president of the Ao Senden. The Tourism Department, Nagaland will also build some structures to make the rest camp to ensure a comfortable stay for the visitors at the rest camp.
The Parliamentary Secretary, C Apok Jamir, while speaking at the function after unveiling the foundation stone, said that arriving at Molungyimsen was a blessing for him. While paying rich tribute to the Molungyimsen village, Apok Jamir said that Molung has one history which had immensely contributed towards the spread of the gospel not only in the Ao area but also in the different Naga areas. Therefore, whatever initiatives is being initiated from here, I pray that the blessing of God be with us, said the parliamentary secretary.
He further said that the Tourism Department has always been with Molungyimsen village and whatever necessary developmental activities for the village have always been forthcoming. He therefore solicited the help of everyone and the active contribution of the tourism department to make the Pilgrim Rest House a reality.
Others who spoke at the function were the president of Ao Senden, Imolemba Jamir, the representative from the Ungma Village council and others. The function was chaired by Molungyimsen Senso Mungdang president A Taku Longkumer while the Ungma Baptist Church pastor Rev Dr Noklen Longkumer dedicated the service.
Prominent people from Ungma village and Molungyimsen villages, besides the officials from the district administration attended the foundation stone laying programme.
