
Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya today advocated for declaring Ruzhazho village in Phek District as a ‘National Heritage Village’ by the Central government since Subhash Chandra Bose came to the village during freedom struggle and the villagers contributed food items and scouts for guiding INA at different places. Acharya said this during his meeting with Chairman of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Development Society (NSCBDS) Nagaland, Dr. Er. Vekho Swuro and his team met at Raj Bhavan Kohima on March 1.
The team met him with an appeal for recognition of Ruzazho village as a “National Heritage Village,” the PRO to Governor informed in a press release.
The Governor further stated that Nagas who fought under Indian National Army (INA) should be declared as freedom fighters and also receive financial benefit, it said.
He also said that a proper befitting memorial should be held for the Naga people and also for Netaji who fought under INA in Nagaland, it added.
Acharya said that he will approach the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar and briefed him about the urgent necessity to recognise Naga freedom fighters under INA, the release maintained.
He further assured felicitation for those fighters who are still alive and also for the children of people who died fighting for India’s freedom. Acharya also paid homage to 97 years old Poswuyi Swuro, who contributed immensely as a Dobashi to administer Ruzhazho during Netaji’s visit.
The Governor also mentioned that the Central Government had released some funds to Tsiesezou village where Netaji last came and promised to make sure that the fund goes for the right purpose, the release said.
The Chairman was accompanied by Secretary NSCBDS, Dupoyi Nyekha and Advisor NSCBDS Phek District, Kuvehu Soho.
