DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN/NSCN) led by N Kitovi Zhimomi has refuted allegations linking it to the alleged unprovoked firing at the residence of Kiviho Zhimomi on September 28, calling the charges “another mischievous scheme” aimed at tarnishing the image of Kitovi and the Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).
In a press statement issued by its MIP, the group said, “Kiviho Zhimomi was recruited in the current organisation ten years ago by N Kitovi Zhimomi as an informer of the GPRN/NSCN. Until recently he was a key informer of the government and technically he still is. Most of his active cadres joined GPRN/NSCN lately, therefore till September 28, 2025, the home comers led by Maj. Gen. Hinoto Yepthomi were an integral part of Kiviho's group and thus the despicable accusation of them firing inside his unsecured house by GPRN/NSCN does not arise.”
The GPRN/NSCN claimed that the September 28 incident was instead caused by “his undisciplined cadres” who, after being denied permission to attend the recent Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) meeting at Zunheboto, “indiscriminately fired within his complex with whatever weapon they had on the night of 28th September evening and escaped.”
The group “demanded” that Kiviho immediately withdraw what it described as an “immature and pathetic statement” to avoid further provocation.
The statement also alleged that a “habitual scammer” had recently been employed to “character assassinate” WC, NNPG leader Hokato Vusshe, Ato Kilonser of NSCN (Khango), by fabricating him in a “fake money printing” case. “That victim under police custody will reveal the scheme of the real coaches and instructors,” it said, warning that when “counterfeit Naga national workers start doing the job of police forces, assisting the Indian security apparatus in creating fake news, the Naga political issue is at stake.”
The GPRN/NSCN underlined that Kitovi, as Convener of the WC, NNPGs and head of the negotiation team that signed the Agreed Position on November 17, 2017, “is not a publicity seeker.” It said, “His survival instinct, his understanding of history, correct political decisions at crucial times, his vast experience makes him a proven leader. His duty is to take the Indo-Naga political conflict to an acceptable, honourable, enduring, inclusive logical conclusion.”
