20 MLAs from Eastern Nagaland given 15 days to clarify position
Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): The NSCN (Khaplang) today accused the Joint legislators’ Forum of “leaving out” the other Naga “political groups” by “going by the NSCN (IM) solution.” A press release from the group’s ‘MIP’ received here today made it clear that the “NSCN K under no circumstances will be a part of any solution coming out of the 60 Legislatures so-called paving a way for solution for any sort of so-called interim arrangement sought by the legislators from New Delhi recently as reported in the media.”
The NSCN group expressed dismay at the “immature and one sided decision” of the Joint Legislators Forum of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) “leaving out the other Naga political groups and going by the NSCN (IM) solution and not Naga solution.”
The organization has declared: “On its part, the NSCN (K) under no circumstances will be a part of any solution coming out of the 60 Legislatures so-called paving a way for solution for any sort of so-called interim arrangement sought by the legislators from New Delhi recently as reported in the media. Moreover, the NSCN under the leadership of SS Khaplang will never accept anything less than sovereignty as stated by its Chairman recently and will reject any solution other than sovereignty solution.”
The NSCN (K) said to have expected “the highly respected elected people’s representatives to go by the peoples mandate and not by a factional solution.” The ‘detrimental decision’ will “create a rift between the different Naga political groups” instead of bringing a solution, the MIP stated.
The NSCN/GPRN queried “how much they have consulted other factions and its leaders before taking such a step which involves the world’s longest running conflict?” They were expected not to favour any faction but to take into confidence all the parties involved as the groups are “fighting for the same goal of Naga sovereignty,” the press release asserted.
Further, the MIP said the “Eastern Naga National Workers Association” questioned the wisdom of the 20-elected members from the eastern areas in taking part in the “wrong and biased decision basing on just one faction interests leaving aside the views and opinions of NSCN (K) who have been fighting for Naga sovereignty the last nearly 70 years resulting into lost of many precious lives.”
The “ENNWA” also queried “if anyone from among the 20 elected leaders from eastern Nagaland” knows the “contends of the charter of demands submitted by the NSCN (IM) to the GOI and if so explain the same to the NSCN in general and ENNWA in particular within 15 days time and if not justify their position basing on what ground and consultation they have given their assent to the lopsided decision which is very likely to bring another big plunder (another Shillong accord) likely to result into lost of many more precious lives as if the lives that have been lost in the past were not enough?”
The 20 eastern MLAs should explain within 15 days “the so-called charter of demands.” The NSCN (K) issued a threat stating that “failure to do the same, they will be treated as anti-Naga and anti-NSCN.”
