Mao Council request APO to revoke ultimatum

DIMAPUR, MARCH 19 (MExN): Following the withdrawal of the Manipur security forces from the disputed Kezoltsa/ Kozürü/Kazing area, the Mao Council has requested the Angami Public Organization (APO) to revoke its ultimatum and facilitate towards resolving the matter in a peaceful manner.  In a letter addressed to the APO president, Mao Council president, N Athikho Joseph on Tuesday informed that the “personnel of the IRB security outpost and the police outpost have been completely withdrawn and relocated outside the disputed area on March 15, 2024.” It also stated that the dismantled rest house in the disputed area was reconstructed on February 19 and 20 with active participation of the Mao Council under the aegis of the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization as a confidence building measure.  The 144 CrPC under promulgation in the disputed area was lifted on February 17 by the Senapati District Administration through the joint effort of the Mao Council and the Naga Peoples’ Organization, the letter further informed.  In view of the compliance and action taken, the Mao Council requested the APO to revoke its ultimatum and pave way for resolving the matter in a peaceful manner.
