Nagaland COVID-19 tally rises to 748, recovery rate at 41.84%

Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): 16 more COVID-19 cases were reported in Nagaland on July 11 taking the state’s tally to 748.


While it took 36 days for the state to reach the 500 mark, it only took 10 days since July 1 to reach 748 cases, according to the State Department of Health and Family Welfare report.


The surge in cases is also due to infection within the quarantine centers when personal safety measures were compromised, the department said.


Of the new cases, 7 were reported from Kohima, 5 from Tuensang while Mon and Mokokchung reported 3 cases and 1 case respectively.


With 313 recoveries, the total active cases in the state are 435. As per the severity of symptoms, 431 active cases are asymptomatic and 4 active cases are mild. The state’s recovery rate was recorded at 41.84% on July 11.


In the daily briefing, Principal Secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.


A total of 3,431 persons are currently under Facility Quarantine.


No community transmission yet
According to the weekly bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare on July 11, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has been increasing although there is no community transmission yet.


In the last one week, the highest spike was on July 10 when 59 cases were reported with maximum cases from Kohima and Peren districts, including military and paramilitary personnel. 


The highest spike till now has been recorded on June 22 with 69 cases in a day which were mostly reported from Peren.
