Tsielhoutuo Rhütso, MLA, Kohima Town speaking as chief guest called to not just celebrate anniversaries but look at how to forge the way ahead by being relevant to the present time and situation. The MLA said much has been done and has happened in the 50 years past, but the post 50 years was for the younger generation.

He urged the people to keep “love and compassion in the centre of everything” while adding that if there is love and compassion for one another, there is no will to do harm or commit crime in the society but there is patience in the person.
Speaking about relationship and association in Kohima, Rhütso said Tsütuonuomia and Dapfhütsumia Khel of Kohima village were considered not just guardians of their people but as brothers and family for the union.

“When a person has love and compassion in his heart, he has the willingness to share, reconcile and giving to the society,” he said. In this regard, while celebrating jubilee, Rhütso encouraged each one to adopt love and compassion in oneself and among one another.
The MLA said there is much that can still be done in various fields. He took the instance of a person who usually retire by age of 60 however the one who openly look to make new plans and renew, remain vigorous and healthy but the one who considers himself old and retired, quickly wither. In this tone, the MLA said for a union who has attained jubilee should renew their goals and plans.
Rhütso also added that we need to document our oral history and called to further strengthen friendship, family ties and association.
Speaking about his representation in the government, the MLA also extended call for support while adding that his profession and vocation as a surgeon stand affirmed. He assured that he would give back his back to the people and fulfill the aspirations for the good of the people.

Former MLA Zale Neikha challenged the members to walk towards determination and commit themselves to giving back to the community by being relentless. He said the jubilee was a time of renewal for the community, a time of forgiveness and reconciliation on enmity among one another.

With the attainment of 50 years, one cleanse oneself and retrospect on the past, he said. To foster the way forward, Neikha said wherever the clan members are present, they must live in unity and contentment with one another, uplifting the weak and contribute with the best of what one give back to the community.

Speaking about present scenario in the society where the younger generation was plaque with lack of employment, the speaker said despite high rate of literacy rate and excellence in academics, society has become very competitive today in every sphere of life.
Although there were members scripting success in competitive exams and various other field, Neikha lamented that there were no members clearing top examinations especially in the field of civil services examination.
He called to reflect on the reason and said it is primarily because of our complacent nature and largely due lack of determination and consistency.

Speaking about the parents, Neikha said up till children complete matriculation or graduation, parents properly monitor and sacrifice to enable their children to attain their highest potential.

However, once they start preparing for competitive jobs, parents leave their children at their own behest and once they fail to crack examination or achieve their goals, they start weighing their disappointment on various other reasons and in turn discourage their children to continue. In this regard, he asked the parents to reflect on their attitude and discourage such attitude which inturn affects their children.

Keviswedel Kin, elder of the union spoke about the inception of RUK. With the villagers coming to Kohima town for starting business, government and education, Kin said like-minded people had come together observing the need to stay united and associated. Even before the Rachü Union was formed in 1974, the members had collected membership fee or met during different occasion. Kin opined that with the union becoming more active and it has grown in unity with better understanding and love and compassion for one another during the years.
