Dimapur | June 26

Petrol is now selling above Rs 99 a litre in 6 districts of Nagaland while Xtra Premium has crossed Rs 100-a-litre mark in all the districts after the latest revision of fuel prices on June 26.

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) increased the price of petrol and diesel by 0.34 and 0.35 paise a litre respectively on Saturday, the highest one-day hike so far for this month across the state.

Accordingly, the cost of a litre of petrol was hovering above Rs 99 in 6 districts - Tuensang, Kiphire, Noklak, Mon, Phek and Zunheboto, as per the official IndiaOil One app.

In Tuensang town, a litre of petrol was just 0.13 paise away from the Rs 100 mark and retailing at Rs 99.87 on Saturday while diesel was going for Rs 93.53 a litre.

In commercial capital Dimapur, where fuel is cheapest in Nagaland, a litre of petrol and diesel respectively were retailing at Rs 96.75 and Rs 90.77 after Saturday’s hike.

Meanwhile, the price of Xtra Premium petrol has also crossed Rs 100-a-litre mark in all the districts with Dimapur joining the other districts in breaching the mark on June 24. On Saturday, premium petrol was selling at Rs 100.31a litre in Dimapur.

Starting June 1, fuel prices have increased 14 times and remained unchanged for 12 day till June 26.

OMCs revise petrol and diesel prices every morning benchmarking retail fuel prices to average of global refined products' prices and dollar exchange.

According to IOC’s ‘price buildup’ of fuel prices in Delhi, besides global price impact on base price, retail prices are determined by price charged to dealers (based price + fright etc), excise duty, average dealer commission, and VAT (including VAT on Dealer Commission).
