NU to reserve of 30% of seats for CUET candidates

The Nagaland University (NU) today conducted its 6th Convocation at its headquarter, Lumami, Zunheboto with La Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland and Chief Rector of Nagaland University as the chief guest.
Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, North Eastern Hill University; Prof. Lalnundunga, Registrar, Mizoram University; and Prof KP Yadav and Prof Madho Govind, nominated by the President of India were also present at the convocation ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganesan congratulated the awardees on their achievements and hardwork and exhorted the students not to forget their roots even if they encounter new cultures, ideas and greater opportunities outside the country.
“Success should not be narrowly defined and community values should not be lost in the pursuit of individualistic success” he said.

The Governor also noted that learning never stops as life continues to teach lessons each day.
He also highlighted on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 stating that students would be provided with more freedom to study their favourite subjects and not only study about technology but study through technology.
He encouraged the youths to be contributors of the country’s goal of being sustainable, fair and thriving as it celebrates 100 years of independence in 2047.
The Governor expressed faith in NU that it would enable its students to take over the domains of manufacturing, infrastructure, education and sanitation as envisaged by our national leaders.
Meanwhile, NU Vice Chancellor Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik in his welcome address informed that in the 6th Convocation, 15,350 graduates, post graduates and doctorate candidates were awarded degrees. Out of those, 54 candidates received Ph.D degree, 94 Masters’ degree, 6 Bachelors’ degree at the convocation while the rest were conferred in absentia.
He also noted that there were also 105 distinguished Gold Medal recipients in different subjects of which 86 received their medals in person.
Prof Patnaik also highlighted the various achievements of NU such as the successful registration in the National Academic Depository as well as Academic Bank of Credit including the Credit Transfer Policy in tune with NEP-2020.
He also informed that with effect from the next academic session, the post-graduate admissions will have reservation of 30% of seats for candidates through CUET.
The VC also maintained that the intellectual property ecosystem has also undergone a drastic change as a result of the incentivization policy, stating that this academic year teachers have been able to publish 25 patents, with 7 now being submitted for approval.
Furthermore, he stated that the NAAC Peer Team is set visit NU from April 1-3.
The Convocation ceremony demonstrated the NU fraternity's collective achievements and aspirations, he noted further encouraging the graduates to carry out their responsibilities with the utmost sincerity, dedication, and selflessness.
The VC also expressed gratitude to the Governor for his concern for the growth of the university ever since he assumed office. He also made a special mention of the presence of Prof Shukla and Prof Lalnundunga, Registrar.
