NPF holding elected legislators by ransom: NTAC

Kohima, February 13 (MExN): The NTAC, Kohima today stated it is the NPF that is “holding the elected legislators by ransom in Kohima depriving them of any conscience and from taking independent decision.” A release from NTAC, Kohima was reacting to the NPF Press and Media Bureau Cell which, according to them, appears to have “no genuine concern for the people and only trying to mislead the people by listening to their master’s voice.”

Maintaining that JCC and NTAC are only upholding the “supreme value of life and working towards our right to life,” they reiterated that their only demand is for the Chief Minister to step down “on moral ground accepting full responsibility for the loss of lives.”

Meanwhile, the NTAC, Kohima, also clarified on the “false propaganda and rumours” about their activities. In a separate press release, the Committee stated that they have no concern for any political party nor are they encouraged to “notice any rift between themselves as power mongers.”

They reiterated the Resolution No.2 of the Coordination Meeting of February 7, 2017 between the JCC, NTAC, Kohima and the tribal apex hohos from all over the state that decided “Not to politicise this historic movement under any circumstances.”

The NTAC said its current demand is for TR Zeliang to step down as Chief Minister on moral ground for "betrayal and the loss of lives." Stating that it has “no concern for any political party,” it clarified the role and responsibility of JCC and NTAC is to “bring healing to our wounded society in the interest of the Nagas.” Further, while appreciating “freedom of speech,” the body found unfortunate that “we are being needlessly dragged into issues deviating from the actual issues and demand.”
