The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) organised a mass rally for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 at the Town Hall, Mokokchung where leaders of all the alliance parties made their presence and showed their support to the PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry.

Chingwang Konyak, Chairman of PDA and President of National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), presented the campaign speech. He stated that Dr Chumben Murry was unanimously selected as the leader after analysing him and determining that he is capable of presenting the Nagas’ concerns, needs, and issues convincingly in parliament.

In his speech, Chingwang addressed the ENPO’s non-participation in the LS election and urged them to reach an agreement and negotiate their requirements with the government, stating that ‘not participating in elections will result in their own loss.’

He closed his speech by urging everyone to vote for Dr Chumben Murry, the PDA consensus candidate, in the next election on April 19, 2024.

In his statement, Dr Chumben Murry stated that the only rationale for having a consensus candidate is to work together to address Naga political issues. He stated that without a Naga political solution, Nagaland will not see complete growth. In addition, he announced the formation of a Political Affairs Committee.

“Although legislators cannot be negotiators, we will play the role of facilitators,” he told the audience.

Speaking of advancement, Dr Murry guaranteed that the next five years will be prosperous and elevate Nagaland to a state of perfection. He committed to represent the sixty parliamentarians and the entire Naga population.

Dr Murry also cited anti-BJP and anti-Christian propaganda, reminding that all legislators in Nagaland are Christians and that not all Hindus support the removal of secularism. He validated his stance by referencing the North East Christian Forum, which seeks to reduce atrocities against Christians across India. He also highlighted the Parliamentary Christian Forum, which he hopes to join and negotiate with politicians from all around India if elected in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio began his address by stating that it is only proper to refer to Mokokchung as the pioneer who opened the eyes of the Nagas to Christianity and education. Rio commented on the PDA government's choice to select a consensus candidate, saying that after extensive consultation, the election Board has selected the best candidate. He praised Dr Murry as the most capable candidate to represent Nagaland in parliament.

Rio also stated that the Modi-led BJP administration in the state is the most dynamic government, and that there is no alternative government other than Modi and his government, which has raised the country's economy and brought the purchase power from fifth to third place.

The programme was chaired by Metsübo Jamir, Minister RD and SIRD Government of Nagaland. Short speeches were delivered by Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, Nuklutoshi, MLA and Imkong L Imchen, MLA and Advisor, Information and Public Relation and soil and water Resources, Government of Nagaland.
