Peren COVID-19 response teams ramp up efforts

Peren, August 25 (MExN): A joint meeting between the Peren District Task Force and Join Action Committee (JAC) on COVID-19 on August 24 approved the survey report for setting up a separate COVID hospital and COVID Care Centre.

The survey was conducted by the Medical Department and NZPO members on August 20 as directed by the Technical Team, a DIPR report stated.

“As the proposed site is found to be the most suitable option for sustainable management of COVID-19 cases in the district, the house unanimously approved the survey report and agreed to forward it to higher authority,” the report stated.

The meeting also decided to lift total restrictions on inter-district movement in the district with effect from August 27.

However, regulations of public movement will continue as per the standing government orders along with the prevailing travel permit systems, it said.

Dr Hedungkiebe, DSO (Med) presented the COVID-19 status in the district and reported that two persons tested positive following contact tracing exercise at Athibung. However, contacts of the two persons are negative, he said.

The DSO also proposed for a mass awareness and sanitization campaign in the district to prevent full blown community spread of COVID-19.

In this regard, to ensure safety practices through active community participation, the house entrusted the Medical Department to work out a project for the campaign that will be implemented through students, business organizations or church leaders. The DTF also directed the Sub-Divisional Task Force to continue efforts to spread awareness in their respective areas, it said.

Meanwhile, ADC, Jalukie Dr Tinojongshi Chang apprised the house on the financial status and its burdens especially in managing transportation, private hotels and quarantine centres.

The issue of vehicle problems and sanitizing team to be manned by non-medical personnel due to shortage of workforce was also raised by the Medical Department.
