PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kohima organised the two-day Art in Education & Kala Utsav Meet 2025 on Wednesday under the national theme “Viksit Bharat – A Visio for Bharat in the Year 2047.”
The event saw enthusiastic participation from 186 students representing 18 schools across Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya, as part of Shillong Cluster under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
Held at the school’s Multi-Purpose Hall, the inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Chief Guest Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, and Principal Mahesh Prasad Shivhare, formally opening the Utsav.
Delivering the keynote address, Noudi emphasized the critical role of arts in education, calling it a catalyst for innovation, cultural identity, and holistic development.
He praised Kala Utsav as a dynamic platform showcasing India's artistic heritage while empowering students to actively shape a progressive and inclusive future for the nation by 2047.
Referencing national initiatives like “Visit Bharat” and “Dharti Abhav,” he highlighted the importance of development in nation-building and urged students to pursue excellence in all spheres.
Acknowledging Nagaland’s rich musical culture, Noudi commended the role of Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) in nurturing talent and offering creative platforms to the youth.
Principal Shivhare, in his address, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to cultivating creativity and providing students with a space for expressive, inclusive, and free learning.
The event was anchored by Takhe Nancy (Class XII) and Aaradhya Shivhare (Class IX). A soulful opening song by the Avanti Girls of Class XII set an uplifting tone for the day's events.
S. Atheni, PGT (Economics), delivered the welcome address, while Vijay Kumar, PGT (Hindi) proposed vote of thanks.
The day featured a vibrant showcase of visual arts, Indian classical and contemporary dance, music, and handicrafts, with student performances reflecting the cultural richness and creative diversity of the Northeast.
The Kala Utsav celebrations will continue through August 7, with more artistic showcases, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges anticipated reinforcing the shared vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
