Rest house at Dzükou trekking point inaugurated

A rest house at Dzükou trekking point was inaugurated today by Chief Conservation of Forest and Member Secretary, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board, Supongnukshi Ao. 

Speaking at the inauguration programme, Ao underlined the importance of the important biodiversity, Dzükou and highlighted that preservation and conservation was crucial. 

Adding that the landscape has changed a lot in the last years, he compared that today, there was so much needed to be done especially on maintenance and upkeep. 

More so, the forest conservator said that there are increased plastic and non-biodegradable wastes which need to be addressed on war footing. He suggested that more dustbins are required more than ever which would be at every twenty steps so that people don't litter and are encouraged to dispose washes in dustbins. 

Supongnukshi also said security deposits systems for wastes should be encouraged to use online mode of payment.

The Forest Conservator also expressed that the department was satisfied with the work that the Southern Angami Students Union and assured to work together in future again for any endeavours.

Earlier, Southern Angami Students' Union (SASU) President Letso Mekro spoke about the project and thanked the forest department for allocating the fund for constructing a rest house to cater to trekkers visiting the Dzükou valley. He said through manual work mostly executed by the SASU members, many miscellaneous expenditures were saved. Mekro further thanked the Pavomi Khel, Viswema Villahe for contributing the land site to construct the public utility. 

Southern Angami Youth Organization President Metekhrielie Mejura also spoke at the programme and said that this construction benefits not only the people of Southern or Nagaland but the whole world who comes and visits Dzükou valley from across the world.
