Rongmei community observes 93rd Martyr's Day of Haipou Jadonang

Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): The Rongmei community commemorated the 93rd Martyr's Day of Haipou Jadonang, a revered leader and freedom fighter, at the Rongmei Customary Court, Chungaizaeng Rongmei Colony, Burma Camp. The event drew community leaders, youth, and members of the Rongmei community, who gathered to honor Jadonang's contributions and celebrate his legacy.

James Akham, Chairman of the Rongmei Community, Dimapur, addressed the assembly, emphasizing the importance of preserving the community's culture and traditions. He urged the attendees to embrace their identity and take pride in their heritage.

Chingkhiulung Gonmei, President of the Rongmei Council, Nagaland, also spoke at the event, calling on the youth and community members to follow the path laid down by Haipou Jadonang. He underscored the significance of Jadonang's leadership and the need to carry forward his vision for the community's progress and unity.

Joint Secretary of the Rongmei Women Organization, Dimapur, Alice Kamei, encouraged the younger generation to remain focused on their goals. She highlighted the importance of dedication and perseverance in achieving success, drawing inspiration from Jadonang's life and values.

The program also featured a cultural performance by Sangamlung and Gaichungpu, who captivated the audience with a patriotic Rongmei song, reflecting the community's pride in their cultural heritage.

In a gesture of remembrance, youth leaders from the Rongmei community distributed food packets to the needy at the Railway Station after the program. This act of kindness was carried out in memory of Haipou Jadonang's compassionate works toward humanity.
