RPP questions lack of monitoring by poll officials

Dimapur, April 8 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) today alleged that there is hardly “any checking of vehicles/choppers by” Election Commission of India (ECI) officials and demanded explanation from the Commission for its “failure to uphold its constitutional obligation.”

“With Congress’ accounts frozen, the absence of checking means that any amount of cash can be easily transferred,” the party maintained in a statement.

It gives credence to speculations that “massive amount of money are being handed over to all their 40 MLAs to buy votes at any cost,” the RPP alleged.

According to the party, the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) has exhausted all its options in securing victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Nagaland and “cash-for-votes is the only option left.”

Conversely, the RPP claimed that “nervousness in the PDA camp is palpable” with serious of setbacks over the People's Organisation (ENPO)-Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue.

In addition, there is “wave in support of S Supongmeren Jamir, the Congress candidate,” who against all odds, is positioned against the 60 MLAs, it claimed.

What should have been a walk-over election for the PDA given that it secured more than 95% of the votes cast in 2023 general election, the Congress has the momentum now, it added.
