SPFDD, SUK condemn attendance of USLP president in meeting called by CM; call for his impeachment

Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The Sangtam People's Forum Dimapur District (SPFDD) along with Sangtam Union Kohima (SUK) has condemned the attendance of Yonghopi, President, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) in the consultative meeting called by the Chief Minister on February 8, 2017 in Kohima.  

A press release from L. Bitong, President, SPFDD said that as per confirmed reports, the USLP President did not consult any of the office bearers nor the Executive Committee of USLP before attending the meeting. “Therefore, his attendance in the consultative meet on 08/02/2017 at Kohima was purely on his own individual capacity and not representing USLP,” SPFDD asserted.

  Further, it pointed out that according to the Resolution No-4 of the NTAC & JCC meet on February 7, he was advised by various office bearers, advisors and elders of Sangtam tribe not to attend the meet called by the Chief Minister on February 8.  

The SPFDD and SUK through the press release have requested the Convenor of Executive Committee, USLP to immediately initiate the impeachment of Yonghopi from the post of President, USLP “on the ground of selling out the prestige of Sangtam community and as per the provisions of USLP constitution.”    

USLP Athah Throzi convenor clarifies

  Kiphire: Convenor of the Athah Throzi (Executive Committee) of United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) today clarified to “all concerned Nagas” that the incumbent President of USLP attended the meeting called by the Chief Minister on February 8 without consultation with any of the office bearers and Athah Throzi of USLP. “Therefore, his attendance in the meeting on 08/02/2017 at Kohima was in his individual capacity and did not at all represent the Sangtam Community.”  

The convenor of Athah Throzi of USLP, Vekheho in a clarification stated, the “authorized representatives of United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) attended the meeting called by NTAC and JCC on February 7/02/2017 at Kohima, wherein the resolutions of NTAC & JCC were clearly informed in detail to Yonghopi Sangtam, the incumbent President of USLP and was asked not to attend the consultative meet called by the Chief Minister on 08/02/17 and cautioned him the consequences if he attend the meet.”  

The clarification asserted that USLP fully supports and stands by the resolution of NTAC and JCC made on February 7 in Kohima.
